Our Planet Kawaii Story 🌸
Bringing Cute, Colourful Joy to the UK 🪐✨
Welcome to Planet Kawaii, a family-run kawaii shop based on the Isle of Wight, bringing cute, colourful and joy-filled products to customers across the UK. 💖
From shoe charms, kawaii stationery and plushies to keyrings, enamel pins, jewellery, lunch boxes, drinking bottles and cute accessories, we carefully choose products that bring a little extra happiness to everyday life.
I'm Lei, founder of Planet Kawaii, and I run the business together with my daughter, Yasmin.
But Planet Kawaii didn't begin with a business plan. It began with our travels, our family and a shared love of all things cute. ✨
🌏 From Asia to the Isle of Wight

Family adventures in Asia have always been a big part of our lives. 🌏💕
For many years, our family has regularly travelled to Asia, including Hong Kong and Thailand, to visit family.
One of the things Yasmin and I have always loved about our trips is exploring the incredible shops filled with cute stationery, plushies, accessories, colourful gifts and all sorts of little treasures.
There's something special about walking into one of these shops. The colours, characters and tiny details make even ordinary everyday items feel fun. 🌈
Then we'd come home to the UK — and particularly the Isle of Wight — and realise how difficult it was to find that same kind of shopping experience locally.
And then one day, Yasmin asked me:
"Why don't we open our own kawaii shop?" 💕
And that little question became Planet Kawaii. 🪐✨
🌈 How Planet Kawaii Started
Planet Kawaii began in October 2024 as a small hobby business selling online.
What started as a fun project gradually grew as more customers discovered our products, and we began taking Planet Kawaii out into the real world with our colourful pop-up shop at events.
In 2026, we decided Planet Kawaii needed a home of its own online.
We started building PlanetKawaii.co.uk so customers throughout the UK could discover our growing collection of kawaii gifts and accessories even when they couldn't visit us at one of our Isle of Wight pop-up events.
Today, we're still a small, family-run business — and that's something we want to keep at the heart of Planet Kawaii.
Every order supports a real small business and helps Yasmin's original little idea continue to grow. 💖
🎀 What Kawaii Means to Us
The Japanese word "kawaii" (かわいい) means cute — but to us, kawaii is about much more than simply how something looks.
It's about finding happiness in little things.
A cute pen that makes school or work slightly more fun. ✏️
A tiny shoe charm that shows your personality. 🌸
A ridiculously adorable plushie you definitely didn't need but couldn't leave behind. 😂
Or a colourful keyring that makes you smile every time you pick up your keys.
For Yasmin, kawaii reflects her love of Japanese and Korean trends, colourful designs and cute characters.
For me, walking into the colourful shops we visit in Asia brings back that wonderful childhood feeling of excitement — when everything seems bright, fun and full of possibilities.
That's the feeling we're trying to bring to Planet Kawaii.
🪐 Our Little Planet of Cuteness
Whether you discover us online or stumble across our pastel Planet Kawaii stall at an event on the Isle of Wight, we want it to feel like you've stepped into our own little colourful world.
A place where it's completely acceptable to get far too excited about a tiny frog keyring. 🐸
Because sometimes you don't need a serious reason to buy something.
Sometimes it just makes you smile. 💖
Welcome to Planet Kawaii.
Your daily dose of cuteness. 🪐🌸
